Hussar (sold)

Hussar, oil on canvas, 5" X 7" (approximate), 2008
sold

One of my favorite words: hussar. This is a small painted figurine given to me by my dad, who is nuts about 'em. It puts me in mind of the character Flashman from the series by George MacDonald Fraser.

Update 2/11/08: My dad writes to say that GMF has died... which is really quite sad. A great writer.

Jason, the stark background and the rich colors of the horse and rider makes a wonderful contrast. Love all the colors in the black horse.

killer drawing. Beauty!

Good choice on the composition by placing the horse at the top. Nicely drawn for such a small horse.

Chris,
Thanks! I see there's some synchronicity at work... you've done some metal toy work recently yourself... :)

Sherry,
Thanks! I thought it a good exercise to practice seeing...

Mary,
Thank you!

Frank,
Thanks. And a tiny horse it is too...!
