Matchsticks, oil on canvas, 4" X 4", 2009

(please mention title of painting in mail)

I've had a couple of folk unsubscribe from the 'art in the inbox' mailing list over the last couple of weeks, so I suspect a few people are getting tired of landscape art. So here's a still life to break up the Montana road trip pieces...

I'm inspired, as is often the case, by the fine work of
Paul Hutchinson.
Matches are a favorite of his.

Mornin' Jason,
I personally prefer your landscapes. I really enjoyed your trip along the coast and also your recent landscapes. I prefer to think viewers are leaving your inbox because they are switching to RSS Readers and not because of your subject matter. RSS Readers are so much more convenient without filling your inbox. A site can be put in a RSS Reader even if the site doesn't have a RSS link button. So continue to paint what you want and please don't let your audience dictate what you paint. How about some figures. :0)

Ramesh,
Thank you. You're far too kind.

Thanks for the thoughts, Mr. Moore.

You may very well have a point about RSS readers, Still and all, I thought the break might be nice. :)

Truthfully, I prefer still life/figurative work to landscape--as far as producing results I'm happy with. Which is a good reason to do more landscape-- it's definitely a prime growth area.

I've spent so much time on figurative work over the years, I've really come to appreciate what I'm learning with the other stuff.

You may have a point though-- might be time to try and tackle people a bit again...
