Self Portrait from a Window Reflection and a Seattle Show Alert

My hair's grown out a bit since the last time I did one of these self portraits from a window reflection. These are tough to do, because you're basically restricted to seeing only in your peripheral vision, and the reflection doesn't cough up much detail.

On an unrelated note...

If you happen to be out and about in Seattle's Capitol Hill, specifically up on 15th Ave, I have some work up in a new bar conjoined to the Olympia Pizza and Spaghetti House. Stop by if you have a chance-- work will be up until end of February or so.

Amuse-bouche (sold)

Amuse-bouche, oil on canvas, 5" X 7", 2010
sold

I probably watch too many cooking shows. This amuse-bouche is a vegan french fry from Squid and Ink restaurant in Seattle, which is not exactly to the spirit of the amuse, but it's my blog. :)

Normally I'd probably use a mix of filberts, brights, and flats to do a piece like this, but I've been trying to build a little better control with my brushwork, so I tackled this piece with a style of brush I don't generally use (a round), and a size that I might not normally pick for this size of painting (a size 12).

You can see in the size comparison pic below
(click on the picture to enlarge)
just how big the brush is compared to the painting surface. The entire piece was done with this brush.
