These are antique tailor's shears that I've painted before. I've always been drawn to the gesture of the open scissor; to the curve of the grips and the gentle taper of the cutting edge.

Normally I'd probably use a mix of filberts, brights, and flats to do a piece like this, but I've been trying to build a little better control with my brushwork, so I tackled this piece with a style of brush I don't generally use (a round), and a size that I might not normally pick for this size of painting (a size 12).

You can see in the size comparison pic below (click on the picture to enlarge) just how big the brush is compared to the painting surface. The entire piece was done with this brush.
