Summer has arrived in the Pacific Northwest and Brackenwood Gallery is poised to embrace it wholeheartedly with a show featuring, oil painter Jason Waskey and “Garden Garnishes” Sculpture Exhibit from 7 of Whidbey’s finest sculptors. Join us for the Artists’ Reception on July 5 from 5-7 PM.
Jason Waskey has shown at Brackenwood for several years but this is his first solo exhibition. Patterns and Repetition are themes Jason focused on for this show. Waskey is passionate about being a working artist and commits time to paint daily. Taking inspiration from the world around him, Jason creates a sense of story, incorporates craftsmanship and introduces humor into his paintings. Waskey tries to say something new with each picture be it a takeaway from a meal left on the table, or the reflection in a tea pot on the stove or perhaps a contemplative view of the inside of his studio. Jason Waskey is a painter of our time creating original works of art absolutely worth collecting!
Showing with Waskey is a sculpture exhibit entitled “Garden Garnishes”. Given that our gardens are in full bloom it’s a perfect time to find just the right sculpture to accentuate the beauty you’ve created. On display will be sculptures in bronze, stone and steel made to adorn the home or garden by artists: Dan Freeman, Georgia Gerber, Ivan Neaigus, Jim Patereau, Sharon Spencer, Sue Taves and Lloyd Whannell. Mary Fisher of Cultus Bay Nursery and Maureen Murphy of Bayview Farm and Garden are creating a “garden” ambiance in the gallery.
The exhibit continues through July 28, 2014.
