Made In USA (sold)

Made In USA, oil on linen, 5" X 7", 2011
sold

I had planned for this painting to be posted next week, but Keiser just posted something with similarities, and I'd hate to feel like folk think I'm just picking up after him... ;)

Beautifully done.
I know that your comment is meant playfully but after I read all about the 'copying' thing (which I've struggled with) on Making a Mark, I've put the angst in the rear view mirror. I like what I like and I paint what I want to paint.
My feeling is that we can't help but be influenced by the art we like.
I started my blog after being sent a link to Duane's blog by a friend and couldn't help but doing the single object thing even though it was already being done.
The internet has changed the time frame as far as how artists emerge. It's instantaneous now.

Love your sketchbook and your paintings.

Don,
Thanks!

Mary,
I am influenced by people who paint what/how I want to paint. Like you, I agree that it's no real mystery why artists over the years cover the same ideas and subject matter... barns and fields, single object still life, whatever.

That being said, I would like to be thought of as someone who at least *tries* to be original.

Also...

Thank you for the kind words!

Best,

Jason
