Satsuma with Leaf (sold)
Satsuma with Leaf, oil on linen, 5" X 7", 2011
There are a lot of satsuma paintings floating around in the world, so I try to restrict myself to just a few a year, in this season.

I have a few Duane Keiser paintings, and a couple of my favorites (Pasture Rose, Pine Cone) involve still life set ups on a window sill. Definitely an inspiration for this piece.
This painting arrives matted and framed with overall dimensions of 16 X 20 inches. The mat and frame add to the overall price a bit, worth it for the effect it delivers.

I painted a version of this locale a few months earlier from a much higher vantage point. This time I was right down at the waterfront.

I painted a version of this on site in Choteau Montana this summer. The earlier version is here.
This is the first painting I've done in the studio based on a field study and supporting photographs . I enjoyed the process, and felt much closer to the subject than if I had painted from just photographic source.
I'll probably do this scene again, considering what I learned from this painting.

How would you like a free painting?
How would you like a free painting?
I just updated my main website: jasonwaskey.com and I desperately need a squadron of eagle eyes to give it the once over and report bugs/problems.
I will give away two paintings... one to the first person who reports a bug, and the next to the person who reports the largest number of bugs.
What counts as a bug? Broken links, failed image loading, 404 File Not Found, that sort of thing. Basically, if it looks wonky, let me know.
Typos count as half a bug. Two typos = one bug.
If you choose to accept this mission, you have until October 24th to report your bugs. Send me your bug reports !
Please feel free to pass this offer along to your eagle eyed friends!

Peaches (sold)
sold
You may have noticed some deviation from my fairly regular 5x7 sized pieces. I've been preparing for an end of year show at Brackenwood Gallery, and I've been trying to vary things a bit. This is a nice sized stretched canvas, floating in a box frame.
Also...

Happy Birthday to Me (Stewpot) (sold)
I love Julian Merrow-Smith's tightly cropped little masterpieces. When I found this earthenware jug/pot, I knew it called out for something similar. One of the few sunny summer Seattle days we had gave nice reflections of sky and lush greenery.
This painting arrives matted and framed with overall dimensions of 16 X 20 inches.
