Overcast late afternoon.
I was struck by the coincidental echoing of green and blue-- a particular green and blue used by the Sounders. You can see there's a long sign ("For Lease") that uses the colors-- intentionally. But the same colors were there in the street signs and the old parked blue car. I suppose if I was going for the Daily Double, I should have gotten Qwest Field in the mix--- that is where the Sounders play after all.

The branch seen in this painting came from this tree, which is in the garden at the side of of my house. It is covered in multicolored lichen and moss, twisted and gnarled. Really beautiful.

More from the Andrea Wittgens show I posted last week.
Very dark, and I don't do her justice in the sketch:

I'm squinty because the light is right in my face. Also, I probably need a hair cut.

This is the right fork of the road right in front of Beacon Hill's Pac Med building at the start of north Beacon Hill. Pac Med is immediately on the left.

I went to an intimate music show at Piecora's pizzeria here in Seattle. Andrea Wittgens and friends performed.

This Iris is from my front garden.
I thought that I'd share a little "behind the scenes". Here's a few snapshots of this piece in progress.

View From Mercer Island
View From Mercer Island, oil on linen, 16" X 20", 2010
(please mention title of painting in mail)
Beacon Hill is in the background-- this is the view that greets me each night as I drive home over I-90.
Those clouds moved in just as I was finishing the painting-- the largest canvas I've done on site-- and it was a frantic rush to get done and packed before I was completely soaked.
Photo finish. :)

Pac Med #2
Pac Med #2, oil on canvas, 11" X 14", 2010
(please mention title of painting in mail)
Beacon Hill's most visible (and famous) land mark. This is a different view from the last time I painted it. Spring has definitely taken hold, but the foliage isn't yet so dense that you can't see sky through trees...
This is a bigger piece than I normally try out in the wild-- I'd like to do more even larger.
