Rocky Mountain Front Valley, oil on linen, 9" X 12", 2012

There's a stop on the road from Choteau to Augusta that talks about
dinosaur bone finds at Egg Mountain.
Now, I've never seen any fossils, but at nearly
every stop I paint at, I find some bones-- most often deer. This time I took a few vertebrae back for some still life work in the future.
This stop looks over a valley all the way to the mountain range 20-30 miles away. I usually paint on the other side of this valley-- closer to the mountains.
The detail in this piece is a little lost in the thumbnail-- I really encourage clicking on it to look at the larger pic!
