Camper (sold)

Camper, oil on clayboard, 5" X 7", 2008

Of course, the comfortably settled camper moved after about twenty minutes. I spent the next 40-50 minutes trying to remember what I had seen...

This is my favorite plein air painting of yours so far!! Sometimes it's helpful to NOT have the subject in front of you anymore - makes you simplify down to what was important. Was it Henri that talked about having his students learn by looking at the model for 5 minutes, then going downstairs and painting what they observed without the model in front of them?

Thank you Stacey! I agree-- I *did* simplify a bunch, AND I stretched some of those imagination muscles.

Still, it was irksome. :) I had picked the camper 'cause it seemed so settled...
