This is one of the jewelry pieces I've been working on. This is oil painted on a piece of ceramic tile, mounted in a metal bezel. The piece has been coated with resin to protect it from wear and tear.
It is approximately the size of a fifty cent piece.

Palette and lighting set up

Initial block in. If you squint, you can see that I've established three main value groups. I started with the darkest value for the shadow part of the skull (which you can see in the picture above this one)-- which is also my middle value in this case.

I've now filled in the lightest values. While there will be lots of refinement in the drawing, and the addition of a few darker darks and highlights, the main value structure is complete.
